‘The Backs’ is installation composed with sequence photography. I love to take photo of human, but at first I started
photography it was too difficult to take photo of the front. I always
failed to face with the figures. So, in my camera, there were many
shots of back of them. Now I do confidently, but have kept taking
photos of the back. Because I think it show my own weakness,
diffidentness, and also tendancy of voyeurism.
Seeing the work internally, the back of someone is more like himself
or herself. People define and judge others with seeing the front. I
want to tell them not to try understanding with only one side of a
person. The back is unaffected and frank. Standing alone and not
showing the front side, only him/herself can realize his/her own real
emotion.
It’s pretty skeptical to relationship but I don’t want to deny that
people live together and need each other. The installation shows
transfusion of the relationship. The photos pair with the ropes making
up the color it doesn’t have on itself.
Most of my works are space based. Each works are single work itself but also the element of the space installation. You can find the several works under the one title.
