Silence is the status that every sonic symbols like any languages. in this status deleting the sound, perception is made by another senses and react more noticeable. within the time opting silence, one of the senses that is taken to the process of relationship, comprehension, communication and recognition obtains relaxation.

the moment that one sense is deleted substitutes with the moment that man concentrate more on another sense. senses not be overlapped gain more clear seeing and hearing. the space that the sound was placed is filled with another senses, and it fulfils even the part of stimulation which sound fulfilled. silence is the time collecting the scattered senses. within there, man can do frankly see and express.

he eyesight can be closer to the truth than the words from the mouth, and tangled voices of mass tourism make the magnificent view tourist attraction. I think visual media and sonic media can define each other, but the

characteristics that the sound or visible appearance defines can be temporal and not truth. I concentrated on the point that the confusions made by the sound.

the videos showing the emotions and moods are free from the disturbance of the sound. with the sound, the visual materials’ identities are not settled. the motions inside videos stand themselves when they are just visible stuffs. the motions show the confusion when they are defined by sound. finally the sounds are deleted and they some back to their own status.

During the project I’ve thought about coexistence of senses and single sense. I want to ask which is closer to the truth. is coexistence of senses accordance or confusion, and is the recognition with the single insularity or purity.

침묵은 언어를 비롯한 사물의 특징적 사운드 기호가 없는 상태이다. 그 상태에서의 사운드라는 옵션을 삭제한 인식은 타 감각에 더욱 뚜렷하게 반응한다. 침묵이 선택된 시간 내에서, 관계와 이해, 소통과 인식 과정에 동원되는 감각들 중 하나는 쉼을 얻게 된다. 혹은 역할을 다하지 않게 된다.

감각 하나가 삭제되는 순간은 다른 것에 더 집중하게 하는 순간으로 치환된다. 인간의 신체를 통한 감각이 삭제될수록 전달과 물체에 대한 인식은 순수해지며, 솔직해진다. 사운드가 빠져나간 자리는 다른 감각들이 채워 말과 특징적 사운드가 표현하던 자극까지 수행한다. 고요는 흩어진 감각을 모으는 시간이며 그 안에서 더욱 솔직한 표출과 봄을 행할 수 있다.

때때로 사운드가 정의하는 특징은 일시적이면 진실이 아닐 때도 있다. 입에서 나오는 말보다 눈빛이 진정에 가까울 때가 있으며, 단체 관광객들의 뒤엉킨 목소리는 수려한 풍경을 그저 관광지로 만들어버리기도 한다. 감정과 무드를 보여주는 비디오들은 대화와 상황, 환경을 인지할 때, 사운드에 의한 방해, 혹은 도움받는 것으로부터 자유롭다. 무음 상태의 비디오는 언어가 있을 때보다 더욱 그 자체가 된다. himself/herself/itself 가 되는 순간이다. 감각의 동재? 혹은 단일 감각, 어떤 것이 더 진실일지 질문을 던지고싶다. 감각의 혼합은 합치일지 혼란일지, 단일 감각은 편협일지 순수일지.
